Review of indicators for assessing the impacts of agri-environment schemes and recent CAP reforms on biodiversity in Wales

Janet Dwyer was part of a team led by Jo Hossell at ADAS which completed a study for the National Assembly Government in Wales in November 2006. The work was commissioned in order to examine the extent to which it would be possible to monitor the environmental impacts of the 2003 CAP reforms, with a particular focus on biodiversity in Wales.

The study made an evaluation of likely change, drawing upon a variety of emerging evidence and expert opinion. It considered the scope for ecological modelling, and made recommendations for a strategy to enable biodiversity impact monitoring of these changes over the next few years.

The report was well received when presented at a seminar for WAG and stakeholders in November 2006, in Cardiff, by Janet Dwyer, Jo Hossell and Sarah Gardner of ADAS.
