Rural research in the South West of England

Commissioned by the South West Region Rural Research Priorities Board, this study, which was undertaken in collaboration with the Universities of Plymouth, Exeter, Bournemouth and the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER), sought to identify gaps in the research literature relating to economic activity in the South West region.

Through stakeholder consultation the study also aimed to determine the capacity and capability of the region to deliver rural research, and to examine the processes by which research is funded and delivered in the region. The project, which ran from November 2005 to June 2006, involved Paul Courtney from the CCRI and was led by Martyn Warren of the University of Plymouth.
