Green Infrastructure in the Swindon urban-rural fringe
This project, which was undertaken for the Great Western Community Forest in 2006 by Stephen Owen, Carol Kambites, Chris Short and Nick Lewis, explored the generic principles and benefits of Green Infrastructure Planning. It recommended a green infrastructure planning process that could be applied in the Swindon urban-rural fringe in advance of the construction of 32,000 new homes.
The report focused on the need to embed the process in the statutory planning system and to involve the community throughout the process as part of a partnership approach.
