Joy is an independent Sustainable Food Systems consultant and has worked with both the UK organic and local food sectors since 1990. Her experience extends from horticulture, to public sector food procurement, to local food social enterprise models, to strategic national programmes designed to change food culture and influence government policy. She is author of ‘Who Feeds Bristol? Towards a resilient food plan’ (2011) – a baseline report that has informed the Bristol Good Food Plan and highlighted the city’s positive planning powers.
Joy is a member of Bristol Food Policy Council and Director of Bristol Food Network. She is also a Director of f3 local food consultants CIC. From 2010-2014, representing f3 food consultants, she was part of the CCRI research team that led the impact assessment evaluation team for the Big Lottery Local Food Fund. In 2013 she co-produced a 35 min documentary film, ‘Local Food Roots’, about the emergence, achievements and challenges of the UK local food movement since 1990.
