Gayathiri is a Chartered Environmentalist and an Architect. She is a Fellow of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) with extensive experience in building environmental assessment tools (BREEAM/DREAM), Sustainability Appraisals, Project Management, Environmental Management System ISO14001 and IEMA Auditor. Her principal research interests are within the field of sustainable building developments and landscape. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Madras, India, and a Masters of Architecture in Sustainability from the University of East London, UK.
Gayathiri began her PhD in the landscape in February 2014 on a part-time basis, focusing on landscape and its relationship with the environmental assessment tools (BREEAM/LEED/Green Star/DREAM). For this research, an auto-ethnography method is being adopted for the case-studies to collect the empirical data acquired using Gayathiri’s own experience of using these tools.
Gayathiri’s supervisors are Allan Mitchell and David Booth (Landscape Department) and Dr Peter Gaskell (CCRI).
Gayathiri is due to complete her PhD in March 2020.
