Pippa joined the CCRI in October 2020, with a background in health and research interests in food systems; specifically debates pertaining to meat and livestock. Her PhD research aims to explore how the issue of climate change and ruminant livestock is framed in the mainstream media and by farmers. How are farmers and their families making sense of emerging narratives? How does this impact their on-farm behaviours? What kind of solutions are being implemented? What structures may lock farmers into existing production pathways?  

She plans to use qualitative methodologies incorporating a blend of semi-structured interviews, content analysis of news media and photo-voice.  

Pippa’s supervisors are Professor Damian Maye and Professor Julie Ingram (both at the CCRI), and her research is supported by the ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership for Wales (Wales DTP) in collaboration with Defra.
