In January 2008 the CCRI secured a two-month project to advise the Commission for Rural Communities (CRC) about the policy implications of the post-modern countryside.
This project examined the character of application sites, and explored whether the sites were earmarked for development in local development plans or subject to planning applications.

This project condcuted a review of peatland restoration on Exmoor and gave guidance to the Steering Group on how best to proceed with future peatland restoration.
The CCRI was commissioned by the Exmoor National Park Authority and Natural England to develop a delivery framework for ecosystem services within the uplands.
