Dan Keech is teaching a module called Sustainable Food and Food Security for 25 bachelor students at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, from 26th – 29th April, 2016.

This is the third year that Dan has delivered this module, which is part of the University’s Environmental Studies course, within the Faculty of Social Sciences. During this teaching week, Dan aims to shine a light on some key developments linked to food and farming over about the last three decades in the market, society and policy. Students will be encouraged to problematize the idea of sustainability and critique aspects of social innovation linked to local and ‘alternative’ food, such as community supported agriculture. A particular emphasis will include the increasing profile of urban food security and how city food is, for some, an important facet of citizenship.

Masaryk University is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in Moravia.
