New Director for the CCRI

Associate Professor Matt Reed has been appointed as the next Director of the Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI). Matt will take up his post on Wednesday, 1st September, taking over from Professor Janet Dwyer, who is stepping down from the post.

Matt said: “I am hugely thankful for this opportunity, and I am looking forward to working with the team on the next steps in the development of the CCRI. We are building from the amazing achievements during Janet’s time as Director and are grateful for all that she has done for the team. I am very excited about what the CCRI will be doing in the next few years and honoured to be leading the team.”

Janet Dwyer remains in her role as Professor of Rural Policy at the CCRI. She is looking forward to continuing as the co-Director of the National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise (NICRE), completing her Presidency of the UK Agricultural Economics Society, and maintaining her work with Defra, the European Commission, Upland Alliance and many other valued partners and networks.

A longstanding member of the CCRI, Matt is already a member of the CCRI leadership team. He has also contributed across the University of Gloucestershire, most recently serving a term on its Academic Board. In addition, Matt has been central to the diversification of research sponsors of the CCRI and its success in European projects in recent years, as well as leading CCRI’s active membership of the Wales Doctoral Training partnership.
