Growing in the Community Conference

Professor Paul Courtney will be attending and speaking at a Bristol Food Network event in Liverpool on 27 October.

The event, entitled ‘Growing in the Community’, will be taking place at the Academy of St Francis of Assisi, and is aimed at healthcare professionals, health commissioners and gardening projects by Growing Health, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and The Academy of St Francis of Assisi.

Paul will contribute to a series of presentations by healthcare professionals and project leaders to consider how gardening and growing food can provide many health, wellbeing and social benefits. In particular, Paul, together with Rachel Summerscales of Hulme Community Garden Centre, will be updating the Growing Health Network on a monitoring and evaluation framework that he is developing for Hulme Community Garden Centre in central Manchester. The project involves development of a theory of Change and forecasts Social return on investment (SROI) for Hulme, as well as an outcomes tool that will allow them and others in the Growing Health Network to capture and measure their impact on an on-going basis.
